A Holistic Approach to Healing

Alternative Health Treatments

A Unique Approach By Dr. Max Fried

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment that involves using acupuncture to improve skin and fight the aging process. Sometimes referred to as an "acupuncture facelift" or "facial rejuvenation," cosmetic acupuncture often is used as an alternative to surgical facelifts and other conventional procedures said to reverse signs of aging in the skin.

Who I Am and What I Do

Dr. Max Fried, DAOM., LAc.
Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

The DAOM degree represents the highest level of training and education in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. It is a degree held by comparatively few practitioners at this time. Max Fried is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Before his studies in this profession, Dr. Fried obtained a Bachelor's Degree from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. As a young man, he was fascinated with aspects of Psychology that pursued answers for questions like "What drives us?", "What makes one happy and at peace with life, while another is unhappy and tormented?", "How much of our feelings, thoughts, reactions, and beliefs, etc., do we control?". He went searching for the answers to those questions and, along the way, graduated with a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the Citadel Graduate and Evening Studies Program.
From the age of six, Dr. Fried has been a student of Oriental Martial Arts. As a high-level Black Belt, he competed and won in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, and Argentina while teaching Martial Arts in South Carolina. In addition to Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he has come to have a great passion for and has studied tai chi, Qi gong, and yoga. His Martial Arts experiences spurred his interest in the greater Oriental paradigm of health and well-being – the art and science of acupuncture, Herbology, and oriental bodywork.
He attended the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California, and the Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado, where he earned a second Masters Degree – MSAOM. His studies included the various acupuncture methods – Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, as well as Herbology, Tui Na (Chinese Body Work), Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Oriental materia-medica, and the full scope of Acupuncture therapy. Additionally, he has attended many seminars in Herbology. He has also received special training in the Oriental Medicine method of dealing with addiction and depression. He is certified in Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation and Weight Loss.
In 2004, when he returned to Georgia, he began practicing with his father, Milton Fried, M.D. Milton Fried was the physician who brought alternative medicine to Georgia many years ago. In addition to his MD degree, he had degrees as a Physical Therapist, a DC, an Osteopath, and a Homeopath. Together, they cared for many challenging patients, often the people that the conventional doctors could not help. They dealt with cancer patients, stroke patients, MS patients, lupus, diabetics, cardiac and respiratory patients, and the usual patients one sees in a family practice. The years that Max spent working with his father were invaluable because he was able to understand sickness, health, and healing from the Western paradigm as related to his Oriental paradigm.
In 2008 he began studies to earn the DAOM degree at The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. The program's primary focus was advanced level pain management, women's health, and for the Chinese Medical Practitioner to communicate more effectively, with Western Medicine Practitioners, for the good of the patient. For more than two and a half years, in addition to taking care of his patients, he commuted from Atlanta, Georgia, to San Francisco, California, for approximately one week out of every month. The course was thorough, requiring some months of training at Yue Yang Hospital of Shanghai University of TCM in China. (Yue Yang Hospital is one of the most advanced, effective, and modern hospitals, globally. It treats 6,000 patients per day and 1,700,000 patients per year. 95% of its treatments are from Traditional Chinese Medicine.) The course also required many hours of research on various TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) topics and compilation and presentation of a publishable project. Dr. Fried's thesis was the TCM paradigm in the treatment of Migraine Headaches.
Dr. Max Fried is currently in solo practice, where he continues to help those in need. He is skilled in managing pain and joint dysfunction e.g., neck, back, carpal tunnel, sciatica, tennis elbow, knee and foot pain, sports injuries, and migraine headaches. However, his primary passion is internal medicine, using TCM as a primary form of treatment for many difficult chronic diseases such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Auto-Immune disorders, etc., etc, etc. He has helped patients cope with the side effects of many cancer therapies and other drug-related conditions. Because of his exposure to Western medicine, he has cooperated with Allopathic Physicians, when necessary, to best help a patient.
Dr. Fried is licensed to practice Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Georgia and Colorado. He is also accredited by the NCCAOM. He is not a medical doctor and will not be making any medical diagnosis of the patient or condition. He employs Oriental medical techniques and adjunctive therapies for the treatment and the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of good health for his patients.
Acupuncture can remedy acute and chronic ailments, relieve pain, enhance recuperative powers, and strengthen the immune system. Dr. Max Fried would be honored to have you put your trust in him.
